The PID Killer – specially designed for String Inverters

Following the resounding success of its Float Controller CI for installations with central inverters, PADCON now also offers a product for installations in the commercial and residential sectors: the Float Controller SI.

Gian Cappelletti, Head of Hardware Development at PADCON, is delighted to report: “Our aim in developing this unit was to offer a solution in the battle against PID for all string inverters currently available on the market. The result is our “small” PID Killer that can support installations with string inverters up to 110kW power output and up to 3 MPPT. Not only does this fill the gap left behind by the PV Offset Box manufactured by SMA but it also offers a solution for a wide range of other inverters.” By this he is referring to the large number of inverter manufacturers who have already approved operation of their modules using the Float Controller. “We are constantly striving to acquire additional inverter manufacturers as partners in our battle against PID, so we have designed standard test scenarios which demonstrate in a quick and straightforward manner the perfect interaction between the PID Killer and the inverter, thereby providing a solid basis for approval,” he continues.

The main unit, which is adjustable to the parameters of each installation, is complemented by a range of compatible accessories ‒ the most notable of these being pre-assembled cable sets in various lengths to simplify the connection to inverters with an MC 4 / Sunclix connector.

In order to expand its sales presence further, PADCON is involved in negotiations with potential sales and service partners in Europe and the Middle East. This is confirmed by Constantin Wenzlik, CEO: “We are close to closing contracts in Israel and Germany. Our partners are delighted to be able to offer their customers PADCON products as solutions for any installation topology or any type of inverter, all from one source.”
